Grace-God’s Amazing Gift

An interactive bible study by Jenny Baker, Series Editor Jeff Lucas, Tuesday nights, The Vicarage, 7:30 p.m.

We are studying the above course at the Tuesday evening meeting – it is very informative and we are learning so much.  Hazel is leading.

On this course there are eight sessions:

1. Introducing Grace
2. From survival to surprise
3. Experiencing grace
4. From abandonment to assurance
5. Transforming grace
6. From compromise to character
7. Liberating grace
8. From isolation to community

We all would love to see new faces at the Tuesday evening meetings and everyone is welcome. We are currently working on session 5 but there are notes from all the other sessions if anyone would like to have copies. We learn with and from each other studying God’s word.

For Lent – God is closer than you think

God is closer - book front

Teaching Theme for February and March during Lent

A study following the thoughts of John Ortberg, pastor and author, who encourage us in the belief that God is near and knowing him is possible for everyone who wants to feel his presence: “The teaching of Scripture is that God really is present right here, right now…. The Spirit of God is available to you and me: flowing all the time, welling up within us, quenching our unsatisfied desires, overflowing to refresh those around us.” Ortberg’s suggestions—to believe that God is in everything, to seek him in the daily and mundane, to learn to recognize and encourage God-inspired thoughts, to look for him in the people you meet and to obey his promptings—though not new, provide us with a series of ideas and activities to begin to change the way they see God in their lives.

Summer Readings

Week of 5 July, St. Andrew’s Church

The Old Testament prophets write of someone coming along after years of neglect, dusting off some old scriptures, and reading them to entire congregations.  Perhaps it’s time for us to dust off the scriptures and just read them in church for anyone who is passing by.

Any fellow Coniston church members are welcome to come in and read.  To sign-up or take a look at the schedule, sign in as a guest at the following link.  Contact Mark on 41262 or Pamela on 41997 for the password.

It is thought that we will begin with the book of Jeremiah (as written in The Message) then time permitting, move to Luke, Romans and finally Revelation.

Happy Reading!

How Great is Our God

Tuesday, 9 June, 19:30 at St. Andrew’s Church, Coniston

Hazel was positively on fire last Tuesday evening with news of this DVD.  For a moment we deliberated on whether to carry on with Daniel or listen to How Great is Our God.  Ultimately we decided that more than just our home group should get the chance to see this so we will show it live in the church on Tuesday night.

Just Walk Across the Room

7:30 p.m., Tuesday evenings at the Vicarage

The Home Group is currently focusing on the message as proclaimed in Bill Hybel’s book, ‘Just Walk Across the Room’.  What if redirecting a person’s forever really is as simple as walking across a room?  This is a powerful course with life changing implications.  If you are interested in learning more, just come along.
